As entrepreneurs, we know that time is our most valuable resource—and yet, so many of us are buried under emails, files, and scattered systems that slow us down. In this episode of The Entrepreneur’s Blueprint, I had the privilege of interviewing Shawn Lemon, founder of The Digital Organizer, and we dug into why organization matters and how to take your first steps toward a more streamlined business.
Shawn started by sharing about a free quiz available on his website. It’s not about how many bins or storage apps you have; it’s about how effective your systems are. The quiz gives you a score and points you to your biggest opportunities—whether that’s project management, file organization, or email control. Shawn explained, “You’re going to get your score and know where to start. Maybe your most important thing is project management, or maybe you’ve got to get email under control.”
Speaking of email, Shawn calls it the “low-hanging fruit” for most people. We all know that sinking feeling of an inbox with hundreds—or thousands—of unread messages. Shawn’s philosophy is simple but powerful: clear your inbox, get to zero, and set up a system that keeps it that way.
One thing I appreciated about Shawn’s advice is that it’s practical and accessible. He’s not asking you to overhaul everything overnight. Instead, he encourages you to start with the easiest wins—the systems that will immediately free up your time and mental space.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your digital life, I can’t recommend this episode enough. Take the quiz, grab Shawn’s guides, and start small. As Shawn says, “It’s not about more bins—it’s about systems that actually work.”
